MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter is a benchtop instrument that uses a sterile disposable cartridge with a microfluidic chip to purify samples in a closed environment. At the heart of the microchip is the world’s fastest valve that enables precise flow switching every 10 µs. Therefore, valve actuation rates of up to 30,000 events per second can be achieved. The droplet-free microfluidic approach minimizes cell stress during the sort process, resulting in high cell viabilities and preserved cell functionality. In addition, the close cartridge system prevents aerosol formation, ensuring operator safety during the sort process. Simple workflow without complicated setup and alignment procedure allows sorting with just a few mouse clicks.

Key features of the system:

• Full sterility – Samples are kept contamination-free within the disposable, fully closed MACSQuant Tyto Cartridge. No risk for carry-over or contamination of fluidics. Enable to sort biohazardous samples, including bacteria and yeast, and COVID-19 related cells.
• Gentle to cells – Sort and even re-sort cells under low pressure without compromising cell viability or functionality. Cells are no longer exposed to high pressure, charge, or decompression.
• Completely safe – The fully closed cartridge prevents aerosol and droplet formation, providing a safe environment for operator and sample.
• GMP-compliant cell sorting – consumables available in clinical settings.
